Warrior Program

The Warrior Program is a progressive ranking system that gives campers, CITs, and staff the opportunity to learn new skills and set individual goals to accomplish throughout their time at camp. It is this program that separates Camp Sertoma from other camps and keeps children and staff returning year after year.

Each earned rank is recognized by a patch and feather and corresponds with a Cornerstone — a statement that illustrates esteemed qualities and guides behavior. In order, the ranks are as follows:

Blue Brave: For our new campers, ages 10 and under, the rank of Blue Brave can be easily earned in one two-week session. To receive their Blue Brave rank, campers need only to participate in each activity area and learn the Blue Brave Cornerstone.

Red Brave: For new campers, ages 11 and up, and/or for returning campers who have achieved the rank of Blue Brave, the rank of Red Brave requires that campers give up their free time to complete projects in each activity area. In addition, campers must know both the Blue Brave and Red Brave Cornerstones.

Warrior: For campers who have achieved the rank of Red Brave, any CIT, and any new staff member, the rank of Warrior requires the completion of more advanced projects in each activity area, which usually takes longer than one two-week session. Other requirements include a day of toil and silence and knowledge of the Blue Brave, Red Brave, and Warrior Cornerstones. Warrior candidates who successfully complete these activities stay on a camp overnight to achieve their rank. The rank of Warrior contains two parts (1st part and 2nd part or full-fledged), which are completed in separate sessions.

Silver Warrior: This rank usually takes campers into their CIT and staff years and takes several summers to complete.  Requirements include serving in ceremonies, demonstrating responsibility and leadership, completing a 20 hour service project, and attending a backpacking trip to the Adirondacks led by camp staff. The rank of Silver Warrior contains two parts (1st part and 2nd part or full-fledged), which are completed in separate summers.
